Dear parent (s) and/or guardian,
On behalf of Boiling Springs Middle School, I would like to welcome you to the Spring 2015 semester (January – May). I am looking forward to an exciting and productive partnership with you to ensure your child is being taught at the highest potential. In order to be successful at Boiling Springs Middle School and in Keyboarding, your child will need your support as well as mine. I know having a partnership with you as I teach your child will truly make a difference in your child’s education and experience in my class. You, your child, and I share a joint responsibility. It is our job to make sure success is possible throughout the semester. I will do my very best to make sure your child is being responsible while in my class. I ask that you guide and assist with your child’s learning by ensuring that your child understands my classroom rules and consequences.
Rules:
1) Be respectful;
2) Be responsible;
3) Be safe; and
4) Be your best at all times.
Consequences:
1) Warning;
2) Phone call to parent;
3) Lunch or after school detention; and
4) Referral to administrator
5) Severity clause: Send to appropriate grade level administrator if your behavior is serious and requires immediate attention from an administrator (e.g. fighting, foul language, bullying, weapons, inappropriate materials, and etc.)
When students demonstrate outstanding behavior in the classroom, whether I am present or a substitute is present, I reward those students for their behaviors. Some of our classroom motivators and rewards include:
Rewards/Privileges
1) Playing an academic game on the iPad;
2) Selecting a friend to work with as a buddy on in-class assignments;
3) Drawing a prize from our prize box; or
4) Having lunch with teacher on Friday’s when we order Chic-Fil-A as a reward for good behavior.
Homework Policy:
Students will not have homework in my class because our class requires a computer to be able to succeed. However, if we are working on a project, students may have to continue their work at home.
Grading Policy and Make-up Policies:
All assignments will be graded and uploaded into PowerSchool. Students are allowed to make-up their work throughout the semester. However, three-points will be deducted for every day the assignment is late. I expect students to put their legal “first and last” name on all assignments or one (1) point will be deducted (not middle name or nickname). Putting legal first and last name on all assignments makes grading assignments a lot easier. Our school grading scale is as follow:
A: 93-100

C: 77-84
D: 70-76
